5 reasons to pick Hireth Medicine for Therapy
Considering starting therapy can be a daunting prospect, even if your community is encouraging you to give it a try. If you’re unsure how to start the journey, but recognise that you could benefit from some extra support and understanding for your unique context, then you’re in the right place!
The process of selecting a therapist to work with can be overwhelming, and whilst personal recommendation might have landed you here at Hireth Medicine, here’s some reasons that you might want to work with me:
No agenda: Plenty of stereotypes exist in our culture around therapy, but I assure you that I won’t force you to talk about your parents, secret fantasies or make you to describe to me your childhood traumas! I practice a therapy type called ‘Person-Centred Counselling & Psychotherapy’ which means that sessions work at your pace, and you pick the content. You share what you feel ready to, at your pace, without any pressure or an agenda to discuss areas you don’t feel comfortable to. Therapy might be a space where you don’t get to hear the opinions of others, and have the space to hear your own opinions as you explore your journey without judgement or lobbying around your choices.
Flexible to suit your schedule: Many clients who use Hireth Medicine are busy people with complex ever-changing schedules, caring and family responsibilities, and multiple competing demands on their time. Accordingly, I offer built-in flexibility for all appointments, and make them available at a range of times to fit different work schedules and timezones. Appointments do not incur default cancellation fees at Hireth Medicine when real life happens, and I offer regular appointment reminders ahead of sessions. Sessions can be booked, rescheduled, and paid for via the booking page so that you can manage sessions in the way that is most convenient for you, and if you can’t find a suitable session time available online, I’ll work with you to find another time that works for your schedule. Appointments are primarily held online, with no software download needed, so you avoid commute time and connect in a space that works best for you via your phone, tablet or laptop.
Suitable for all: I work with a diverse client base of all ages, faiths and backgrounds. Whilst many of my therapy clients come to me for support during times of change and transition in their lives, the work that we do tends to be broad reaching in its themes. I also have experience working with clients of diverse backgrounds, lifestyles and with those who are members of the LGBTQIA2S communities. I have lived experience of being a member of the queer and neurodiverse communities. Many of my clients are either formally diagnosed or aware of some neurodiverse traits in themselves - working with understanding of how this might shape their experience can be of benefit to some clients and offer significant reassurance in initially connecting. If you’d like to discuss the suitability of working together, we can do so and in the event it may not be a good fit, I can offer you support with signposting to other therapists.
Experienced safe hands: I have been working in therapeutic modalities for decades, hold advanced qualifications in all my modalities, keep up-to-date with continued professional development, undergo professional Supervision in excess of required levels, hold extensive insurance and am a member of multiple regulatory professional membership bodies. I am recognised as an expert in my field and lecture in Advanced Counselling Skills at university level. If you’d like to find out more about my background, you can find details here.
Free discovery call: In order to discuss if working with me would be a good fit for you, I offer a free no-commitment discovery call to explore how us working together might look, and answer any questions that you might have. You can book this here using the ‘Quick Cuppa’ option.
If you’re ready to start exploring counselling & psychotherapy, I’d love to hear from you. You can always pop me a message via my social media or on the contacts page here with any questions or queries. I’m looking forward to hearing from you!
